4 tips to help reduce a fever
Drink plenty of fluids
Reach for those fluids when you’ve detected a fever. You have a higher chance of becoming dehydrated with your elevated temperature. While cold beverages won’t combat the fever any better, they can help with comfort and helping you get better rest.
Wear lightweight clothes
Remove any unnecessary clothing. Socks, over-shirts, jeans, you name it! Dressing light not only helps with comfort but will also boost ventilation. With better air-flow, your body can cool down even quicker.
Take a lukewarm sponge bath
Taking a sponge bath is one of the most effective ways to reduce a fever. Similar approaches like using cold water and rubbing alcohol will not work and are not recommended! Your body regulates it’s temperature, lukewarm water and the natural flow of air are the most effective.
Max comfort
Most important, stay comfortable! It can be extra stressful to feel sick with a fever, keep light bed sheets nearby for some covering. Your fever may ebb and flow so sheets may provide the right balance of air flow and warmth.
